Rachel Deitch is the acting director of policy and strategic advocacy at the American Humanist Association and its 501(c)(4) affiliate, the Center for Freethought Equality. She leads the organizations' policy development and advocacy efforts at the federal and state levels to advance secular and progressive values. Successes include securing the passage of humanist-led bipartisan legislation in Congress and being the first person to represent the nontheist movement in a congressional hearing in 30 years.
Rachel has also worked in sexual and public health, as the director of federal policy at the National Coalition of STD Directors, where she founded and led a coalition of 65 national public health, sexual health, and LGBTQ organizations during the mpox public health emergency, with White House participation.
Her work has been featured in Politico, CNN, and Bloomberg.
Rachel holds a Master of Theological Studies in Religion, Politics, and Ethics from Harvard Divinity School and a BA from Occidental College. She is a proud DC resident, and serves on the Board of the Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, D.C.
