Eddie Tabash is a constitutional lawyer in Los Angeles. He serves as chair of the board of directors of the Center for Inquiry and is in his 28th year as a board member of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.  He is committed to restoring the true mandate of the First Amendment that government must be neutral in matters of religion and cannot favor any point of view over any other. He believes our most important goal must be to try to restore the true meaning of the separation of church and state, that has been so substantially weakened by the current religious right supermajority on the Supreme Court. As expressed by former Supreme Court justice, Sandra Day O'Connor, the separation of church and state means that government cannot treat anyone differently based on the God or gods they worship or do not worship.
