K. M. Bell (they/them) is a Senior Litigation Counsel for Reproductive Rights and Health at the National Women’s Law Center. They focus on litigation to protect and improve access to contraception. Before joining NWLC, K. M. was a Staff Attorney at the ACLU of Arizona, where they focused on LGBTQ rights and First Amendment litigation; prior to that, they were a lobbyist for criminal justice reform. Previously, they served as Legislative Counsel and later General Counsel at the Marijuana Policy Project, which is dedicated to ending cannabis prohibition, and worked as a criminal defense attorney and civil litigator at boutique firms in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mx. Bell graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, where they were on the Law Review, and holds a B.A. from The College of William and Mary. After law school, they clerked for Judge Timothy E. Meredith and Judge Alexander Wright, Jr., both of the Appellate Court of Maryland. Mx. Bell is a member of the bar of Maryland and Arizona; they are not currently licensed in D.C. and are practicing under the supervision of a D.C.-licensed attorney.
