Jamaal Lockings currently serves a federal policy associate with the Southern Poverty Law Center. Previously, he was a Dorot Fellow with the Alliance for Justice, specializing in federal judicial nominations and the Supreme Court. A proud graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Jamaal served as President of the Student Bar Association, a Dean’s Fellow for the Society Program, and a mentor for both the Thurgood Marshall Legal Society for Black Students and the OUTLaw organization for LGBTQ+ students. His leadership and dedication to community engagement were hallmarks of his academic journey.
Throughout law school, Jamaal gained invaluable experience as a law clerk for State Representative Erin Zwiener, contributing to meaningful legislative initiatives during both regular and special sessions. He also served at the Texas Civil Rights Project, where he focused on cases that preserve and expand civil rights and liberties.
