Name
School Chaplain Bills: How to Stop Them Before They Pass
Date & Time
Monday, April 27, 2026, 10:15 AM - 11:15 AM
Description

Inside the playbook pushing public school chaplains — and the amendment strategy that beat them.

The National School Chaplain Association is pushing coordinated legislation in more than half the states to place unlicensed religious chaplains in public schools. Their pitch is polished, well funded, and politically connected. In Oklahoma, we defeated their bill twice by forcing a single amendment they could not accept. This session draws on insider information from NSCA’s own strategy meetings to expose how these bills are structured and sold, how the organization frames its “mission” as student support, and how neutral-sounding language is used to undermine state-church separation in public schools. Attendees will learn the legislative strategy that succeeded in one of the reddest states in the country.
