Book bans and censorship are a coordinated Christian Nationalist attack on democracy through our public schools.
Attacks on public education are not isolated cultural conflicts; they are coordinated threats to democracy. Christian Nationalists are increasingly targeting public schools as a front line for reshaping civic life, using book bans and censorship to exclude marginalized voices and narrow who belongs in our shared democracy. This workshop examines how religion is weaponized to undermine inclusive education, explores the actors driving censorship, and highlights how faith communities are partnering with broader movements to defend our First Amendment rights. Participants will engage in strategy discussions focused on narrative shift, mobilization, and coalition building.
