Steven K. Green is the Fred H. Paulus Professor of Law and Affiliated Professor of History and Religious Studies at Willamette University, where he teaches courses in Constitutional Law, First Amendment, Legal History, Education Law, and Religious Studies.  He is the author of seven books on American church and state, including Separating Church and State: A History (Cornell, 2022) and The Grand Collaboration: Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and the Invention of American Religious Freedom (Virginia, 2024).   His new book project, Infidel(ity): The Gilded Age Battle Over Freethought, Free-Love, and Feminism, will be published by Oxford University Press in 2026.  He is the author of more than 60 scholarly articles and has collaborated on approximately 25 amicus briefs at the Supreme Court.  He holds a J.D. from the Univeristy of Texas and a M.A. and Ph.D. from the Univeristy of North Carolina.
