This multi-denominational panel of Jewish clergy and leadership, representing American Jewish perspectives both secular and religious, will address collective concerns about the rise of Christian Nationalism. Most American Jews share a consensus on church-state separation issues including abortion access, LGBTQ+ equality, public education free from religious indoctrination, and more. Yet our heritage has been co-opted by White Christian Nationalists who steal our symbols (“Jericho March”), weaponize so-called “Judeo-Christian” values, and even claim to speak for us on fighting antisemitism (“Project Esther”). We will discuss how Jewish values can inform the fight for religious freedom, and advocate for a genuinely inclusive secular democracy.
