Dane Sherman is a senior at the University of Notre Dame. They were an AU Youth Organizing Fellow class of 2023. Dane spends time working with and building international faith coalitions. On campus, Dane has built coalitions to increase housing options for transgender and nonbinary students and to expand safe sex materials across campus. They have worked in Nepal, Bosnia, Kuwait, Lebanon, South Sudan, Rome, Arkansas, Indiana, and Washington state with various faith groups in developing multilateral treaties and agreements. Most of Dane’s activism focuses on bringing together religious and non-religious folks to develop inclusive, pluralistic, and decolonial frameworks that fit between multiple traditions. As a devout Catholic, Dane sees church-state separation as crucial and fundamental to their faith.
