Ani Zonneveld is founder and President of Muslims for Progressive Values (MPV), which advocates for social justice and equality for all, for freedom of expression and of conscience, and women and LGBTQ rights. Ani promotes these values at the United Nations by challenging human rights abuses in the name of Islam, and by offering an inclusive understanding based on universal human rights and justice. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Multi-Faith Advisory Council to the U.N. and is the co-chair of its Gender Working Group; and created an anti-hate speech workshop Muslim societies commissioned by the UN Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect. She overseas MPV’s signature program #ImamsForShe; gave her TEDx talk titled – Islam: As American As Apple Pie, and is the subject of an award winning documentary titled "al-imam" screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019. As a Grammy certified songwriter, she utilizes the power of music and the arts in countering radicalism and in creating a new American Muslim culture.
