Name
Will it be Preaching or Teaching Religion in the Post-Kennedy Era?
Description
How has the 2022 Supreme Court ruling on a praying football coach upended the landscape on school prayer and religion in public schools? What could be the possible effect on religious minorities and the non-religious, given some schools think the ruling gives carte blanche to promote Christianity? What models could educators implement to create better school communities for religious literacy and diversity? A trio of panelists will bring these issues home, with their direct experience with public schools; a journalistic investigation into a Louisiana prayer battle and years studying schools’ efforts to teach about world religions; and experience living and attending schools as religious minorities.
